It seems as though Blur are set to announce their eighth studio album, titled Magic Whip - and it's the first album the band have released in twelve years.
The Sun hinted at the news this morning, publishing a picture of the album's artwork, and suggesting it was for "a massive band, more than a decade after their last full studio release". The tabloid went on to explain that the last full studio album Blur released was Think Tank in 2003, which went to number one in the UK.
After this success, members of the band went their seperate ways - guitarist Graham Coxon left to develop his solo career during Think Tank recording, whilst Damon Albarn turned his focus to his band Gorillaz. The last time the band reunited was for performances in London's Hyde Park in 2009, and other summertime festivals that year. The years since then have held little in the way of new material from Blur - hence this news is extremely well recieved by fans.
The band were last reported to be recording in Hong Kong, which seems probable in explaining the nature of the artwork. NME have also detailed that the characters present on the artwork roughly translate to "blur magic whip" in Mandarin - so all is looking probably for a long-awaited and glorious return from Blur.
