The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards has blasted Metallica and Black Sabbath, labelling them 'jokes', and claimed that rap music is for 'tone deaf people'.

In an interview with the New York Daily News, the Stones man expressed his disdain for a number of genres.

"Millions are in love with Metallica and Black Sabbath," he said. "I just thought they were great jokes."

In regard to hip-hop, Richards added: "Rap – so many words, so little said. What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there. All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another."

It's not the first time Keith Richards has been on the warpath recently - he claimed that Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was 'a mishmash of rubbish.'
