More about: Marilyn MansonFather John Misty
Fresh from his triumphant release of his second album I Love You, Honeybear, Father John Misty has revealed an awkward encounter with the God of Fuck Marilyn Manson.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Misty - aka singer songerwriter Josh Tillman - described how he has been hanging around the LA hotel The Chateau Marmont, the inspiration for his track 'Chateau Lobby #4 (in C for Two Virgins)'. As it remains the epicentre for much of the celebrity activity in Hollywood, unsurprisingly he had a few close encounters with fellow musicians.
He recounts one particularly strange interaction with Marilyn Manson. “I had this full grown-out beard, and Marilyn Manson said, ‘How long have you been a lumberjack?'” Tillman recalls. “He was wearing sideswept bangs and this pea-coat thing. I said, ‘How long have you been in the gay Navy?'"

Being one of the few genuinely camera-shy venues in Hollywood, it's unsurprising that when Tillman came to make the video for 'Chateau Lobby #4' he didn't use the venue that inspired the track.
In a lengthy recent Facebook post he revealed: "A few months ago, I had an idea for a video. I was going to rent a wedding chapel, get a dozen kittens and stage a kitten wedding, over which I would preside and intercut with performance footage of me lip-syncing the song which you’re hearing today, “Chateau Lobby #4 (in C for Two Virgins)”.
Sadly for everyone concerned both the label, Tillman's management and the kitten wranglers themselves suggested this might be impossible.
