Glastonbury 2015 Headliners Blur deny rumours Photo:

Blur's Dave Rowntree has revealed that the band will not be joining Foo Fighters and Kanye West at Glastonbury this year.

Widely rumoured to be headlining the third night at the festival, the band have finally confirmed they will not be playing at Worthy Farm this year. Speaking to XfM, Dave Roundtree not only said that the band were not playing the festival but that there is an endemic problem with headliners for festivals. "I think there is a problem in that there aren't that many bands who can headline big festivals at the moment. The music industry's missing a middle roster, a middle section of artists who are big at the moment but have enough back catalogue to headline a big festival."

Asked for his thoughts on Kanye West's appearance at the top of the bill, Roundtreee praised Emily Eavis ability to  "always try to be a bit left-field, do the unexpected thing".

Blur recently released the third track from their new album The Magic Whip. 'Lonesome Street' followed 'Go Out'  and 'There Are Too Many Of Us' are all taken from their first album in 12 years. Premiered for the first time live at Blur's initmate gig at Mode in West London last week, 'Lonesome Street' is the most animated Damon Albarn has sounded on a Blur track since 'Crazy Beat'.
