More about: Foo Fighters
The nicest man in rock Dave Grohl has struck again - by making the dying wish of a terminally ill Foo Fighters fan come true.
Ken Powell, also known as hardcore fan Ken the Foo Fighter, has been battling melanoma cancer 14 years. Now, after surgery and treatment have failed, the 56-year-old inspiration made it his life ambition to meet the band.
He was due to do so this year in Australia, but it was cancelled when Dave Grohl had to pull all meet and greets due to food poisoning. Ken still attended all of the band's Australian shows.
“That was our quest – to try and meet the band,” he told Yahoo. “We came close in Perth but it didn’t happen.”
Then, a friend of his was a flight attendant looking after the band during their trip, when he told Grohl Ken's story.
His response? He sent him the above picture - and VIP tickets to see them in Los Angeles. Ken is now raising $20,000 to fly to LA, with any excess donated to cancer research.
“At the invitation of Foo Fighters management, we’re trying to raise funds to get over there and meet the band – finally,” he said. “Any money surplus to the fundraiser’s objective will be donated to Melanoma Institute of Australia who have been a big support to me."
