Jay Z will launch his newly acquired streaming service, TIDAL today (Monday 30 March).
In the kind of show of support normally reserved for charity events, celebrites including Kanye West, Rihanna, Jack White and Madonna have all changed their Twitter profiles a refreshing shade of blue in support of the launch.
The rapper reportedly made a $56.2 million bid for Aspiro, the Scandinavian company behind streaming services WiMp and Tidal back in January.
According to TIDAL’s website, the platform is “the first music streaming service that combines the best High Fidelity sound quality, High Definition music videos and expertly Curated Editorial.”
TIDAL looks set to rival Spotify in a big way, currently offering two paid subscription options: $19.99 a month for high-fidelity audio which is the big 'lossless' draw and $9.99 for standard audio.
