Singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell was reportedly rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious in her Los Angeles home.
As TMZ reports, sources say that paramedics arrived at the 71-year-old’s home at around 2:30pm on Tuesday (March 31). The 911 call was for an unconscious female, but she was said to be alert while being transported to the hospital.
As of late Tuesday, Mitchell was in intensive care. It has not yet been confirmed what caused the incident, but it is reportedly “quite serious”.
Several years ago, Mitchell had been diagnosed with Morgellons disease, an unexplained skin disorder characterised by disfiguring sores and crawling sensations on and under the skin.
As NY Daily News reports, Mitchell spoke of the condition in 2014, saying that “Fibers in a variety of colors protrude out of my skin like mushrooms after a rainstorm. They cannot be forensically identified as animal, vegetable, or mineral.”
