"No greatest hits collection released in the last few years has come even close to this..."

Missy Elliot in recent years has struggled to recreate that originality and wackiness that put her on the map back in the mid-nineties. Her new single 'We Run This' may have struggled to chart highly but her latest release, 'Respect M.E.' (which stands as a greatest hits album) makes up for these misfortunes.

No greatest hits collection released in the last few years has come even close to this satisfactory collection of hot Missy Elliot records. Newer joints like 'Get Your Freak On', 'Work It' and 'I’m Really Hot' give recent Missy fans something to chew on, but it’s the original fans who know where the party starts. That’s right, classic cuts like the 702 (remember them) and Magoo featured 'Beep Me 911' help to resurrect the feeling most people had when they first heard about the then ‘larger than life’ Missy Elliot character.

Immediately after comes arguably Missy’s finest piece of work to date, 'The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)'. The dark yet inquisitive Timbaland production didn’t just introduce the world to Missy, but Timbaland also. The Ann Pebbles 'I Can’t Stand The Rain' sample was and still is no joke. Then there’s the Lil’ Kim and Mocha accompanied 'Hit ‘Em Wit Da Hee' which continues to play havoc with any stereo system and speakers. Missy Elliot is an icon, there’s absolutely no doubt about it. 'Respect M.E.' is by far the hottest hits collection to come from any hip-hop act in the last 10 years. So, “Cop That Shit”!
