Blur have released new song ‘Fool’s Day’ as a free download.

The track, initially released as a limited edition vinyl for Record Store Day, is available now from the band’s official website.

The band’s manager said it was important that fans who missed out on the vinyl could get the song legally.

Chris Morrison said: "To avoid fans having to illegally obtain an inferior copy of this track from pirate sites – we have made it freely available through the band’s website."

‘Fool’s Day’ is Blur’s first new material since 2003 and it’s hoped the track will pave the way for a new album from the group.

Fans queued overnight to get the song on vinyl yesterday, with Rough Trade West in London among the most popular independent record stores.
