Gaz Coombes: 'I don't mention my album to Supergrass'

Former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes has revealed he feels uncomfortable discussing his solo record 'Here Come The Bombs' with his former Supergrass bandmates and said that he does not expect Danny Goffey and Mick Quinn to get excited about him releasing a solo record.

In a new interview with Gigwise, the 'Hot Fruit' solo star tells how he is still close with his former bandmates, but says the situation between them is 'odd' now he is embarking on a solo career.

"I haven't really talked to them much about it [solo record 'Here Come The Bombs']. I think they like it," he tells Gigwise. "It's a bit weird in a way, a slightly odd sort of situation. I wouldn't expect them to jump up and down and rave about it but they've been cool.

"We're still close. Me and Danny are still writing together a bit and my kids hang out with his kids so we're good friends but it's not necessarily a big talking point. I just tend to leave it."

Coombes recently revealed that he had no interested in reuniting the band to perform Supergrass classics, as he felt there was "nothing worse than seeing some old geezers trying to be young again by playing their early hits."
