The men who are never happy about anything

Today seems to have been a very grumpy day for some men in music. Gary Barlow is not happy about the X Factor, Robert Plant squashes a journalist in New York and Morrissey still hates the Royals. Gigwise is therefore taking some the time to look at other grumpy men in music...

These men are often just outspoken about things they really don't like but seriously guys is there really any need to be that grumpy?!

From Barlow to Morrissey these stars have made quite a name for themselves in the music industry but it's their grouchiness that you can't help but laugh about. Fair enough the men in question do have a right to their opinions given the millions of records they have collectively sold, however a smile wouldn't go a miss boys!

  • Gary Barlow: The X Factor judge and Take That man has seemingly thrown his toys out of his pram by ignoring calls and messages from his talent show bosses. Barlow has reacted badly after his act Carolynne Poole was booted off the ITV singing show.

  • Robert Plant: Led Zeppelin frontman Plant got his knickers in a twist this week over a 'schmuck' journalist in New York asking him questions about the future of the band. The Zeppelin frontman expressed his grumpiness at being asked about a Led Zeppelin reunion at every press conference, not quite sure what he expects given the fact the band haven%u2019t actually clarified their status?

  • Morrissey: "What's the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning? Wish I hadn't." Sums the man up really. Be it the Royal Family, the Olympics or Richard and Judy, Mozza is one grumpy man who can and will get grumpy at anything.

  • Billy Corgan: The Smashing Pumpkins frontman recently compared new artists to strippers and said, "I was part of a generation that changed the world - and it was taken over by poseurs." Not a happy pumpkin it seems.

  • John Lydon: The former Sex Pistols man is one grumpy punk. He really does have an opinion on everything and has an arsenal of abuse to unleash at anyone who upsets him. You might think all the British butter would have cheered him up, however describing Coldplay and Radiohead as 'tosh' tells a different story.

  • Ringo Starr: Back in 2008 The Beatles drummer was a bit grouchy and fed up, the cause? All that fan mail of course. He posted a message on his official website telling fans not to post any more fan mail, as he won't be signing it. Cheer up Ringo!

  • Lou Reed: Notorious for being one of the most difficult interviewees in history, the Velvet Underground man reduced one Guardian journalist almost to tears by answering in monosyllables and trying to walk out on the interview.

  • Rick Wakeman: The former Yes keyboard played actually appeared on a show called Grumpy Old Men, thats how grouchy he is! After watching an episode it appears the scarecrow lookalike will have a moan about most things.

  • Paul Weller: The Modfather has never been one to hold back his opinions so when asked about talent shows like The Voice and the X Factor his response "boring, paralysing, brain crippling." Not a fan then Paul?

  • Liam Gallagher: Social networking site Twitter isn't everyone's bag but grumpy Beady Eye man Gallagher takes things a little too far. Asked about the site he said "I hate it. It's rubbish... talking about your lunch, it's like, come on. People need to be lined up and shot." You can follow Gallagher on his official twitter page @liamgallagher (twitter.com/liamgallagher)
