Plus, his mum turns up to support X Factor champ
12 December, 2012: It's not all glamour after winning The X Factor - there's an awful lot of time to be spent sitting in HMV stores signing CD singles, as James Arthur discovered yesterday when he returned to his hometown of Middlesbrough to meet fans.
Among the fans were his mum Shirley, a small dog called Twix and a handful of teenage, female fans who were unable to contain their emotions, promptly bursting into tears after meeting the man who is set to top this week's singles chart with his debut release, 'Impossible'.
Much has been made of the decrease in viewers of The X Factor in 2012, but while the show may be struggling, the news is only good for Arthur. 'Impossible' is the fastest selling winner's single ever, shifting over 187,000 copies in just 24 hours of release, proving even more popular than releases by the likes of Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke.
