Arctic Monkeys! Arcade Fire! Outkast! Kanye! Yep, we're slowly but surely finding out which massive acts are headlining what festival - and we're pretty impressed by the announcements so far.

However, what about those acts in the much smaller font on the poster for the likes of Glastonbury, Bestival and Field Day? Let's not forget about them. Because the acts listed right at the bottom of the bill in a typeface you need to pop on glasses to read are the brand new bands - and there are some amazing fresh acts out there at the moment.

Here's 22 hot new bands, all making appearances during festival season. Catch them or miss out - you can say you were there right at the beginning when they get massive.

  • Sky Ferreira: The model turned musician's astounding debut album Night Time My Time may have been winning hearts and ears in the US since its release last year, but it finally drops in the UK in March 2014. She's been confirmed for Field Day with other festivals expected to follow. Make damn sure you see her. (Photo by Justine Trickett)

  • Asgeir: Iceland's latest awesome talent finally drops the English version of his critically-acclaimed debut In The Silence this year. It stands to reason that he'll be capitalising on his newfound success on the festival circuit.

  • SISTERS: They may have only dropped the flawless fuzz-rock single of 'Hush Hush' so far, but the future looks bright for this Irish three-piece. They recently told us that they'd be doing the rounds at festivals this summer, so be sure to catch them on some smaller stages while you still can.

  • SKATERS: Giving garage rock a much-needed air of fun (and a kick up the arse) are New York's SKATERS. They went down pretty well at Reading & Leeds last summer, and with debut album Manhattan dropping in February expect a much wilder response when they play pretty much everywhere when festival season rolls around.

  • Thumpers: Thumpers are brilliant. If you like your music to be mind-bendingly infectious and epic on a larger than life scale, then this is the band for you. With SXSW under their belts and a couple of European festivals, prepare to fall in love with your new favourite band when they hit UK fields.

  • Temples: Bringing psych-rock racing into the future are Temples. Get lost in a dreamy haze when they take to Field Day, Coachella and many, many, many more.

  • Bondax: Tipped to seize the New Kings Of Dance throne from Disclosure, this is the duo are perfect for festivals in 2014 and will certainly help you lose your mind.

  • TRAAMS: FatCat, the label that brought the likes of Frightened Rabbit and Twilight Sad, now welcomes you to the wonderful world of TRAAMS. Schizophrenic, scratchy and psychedelic, they're bloody brilliant. Catch them at YO1 2014 and a whole load more when they hit the road this summer.

  • Crosses: Deftones frontman Chino Moreno's side-project are dropping their first full length debut in February, and will be bringing in their infectious but nonetheless insane industrial electro metal to Coachella 2014. If there's any justice, they'll at least play one UK hard rock festival this summer. See them at all costs.

  • Jessy Lanza: Skeletal rhythms, gorgeous synths and soaring vocals - this is magnificent pop, but not as you know it. Get your fill at Field Day, Sonar and many more to be announced.

  • Pawws: Prepare to have your heartstrings pulled and dancing shoes dirty with the delightful Pawws. This summer, she'll be at Field Day, slowly worming her way into your heart.

  • Woman's Hour: Much more melodic than the topical Radio 4 chat show, Woman's Hour are a dark and hypnotic affair that will leave you utterly transfixed this summer. They're currently booked for Farr Festival, but expect to see them stunning audiences far beyond that.

  • Nick Mulvey: The former Portico Quartet man has now gone it alone, and he's bloody brilliant. Just check out the undeniably arresting 'Nitrous' as evidence. You can also catch him at Glastonbury and surely countless more this summer.

  • Chet Faker: We're obsessed with the Australian musician's soulful, rich vocals - so we can't wait for the release of his debut album Built on Glass. Faker will be appearing at Spain's Bilbao BBK festival and Portugal's Optimus Alive in July.

  • Kidnap Kid: Sheffield beatmaker Matt Relton is playing at basically every festival going this year, and for very good reason - he's really rather good. Check out the stirring, dark, atmospheric 'Survive' if you don't believe us. Then catch one of his sets at Glastonbury, Boardmasters, Parklife or Hideout.

  • Years & Years: We dare you not to fall in love with the devastatingly catchy electronic soul of Years & Years. The band's recent single 'Real' is one of the best tracks we've heard in a while, and they have the potential to be MASSIVE. Make sure you catch their appearance at the Secret Garden Party in July.

  • Todd Terje: Responsible for 2014's finest dance record, It's Album Time, Terje is playing a handful of live show in the UK this summer, including a show at Field Day in London. Should his live show match the bonkers brilliance of the album, Terje will be this year's must-see electronic act.
