This weekend, thousands of music fans will descend upon Yorkshire for the critically-acclaimed Live At Leeds festival. The annual event sees hundreds of bands spread across the legendary venues in the good city of Leeds, offering the chance to see the best of new talent with a smattering of established heroes thrown in for good measure.

From the names you may know like Albert Hammond Jr, iLiKETRAiNS, Pulled Apart By Horses and The Dum Dum Girls through the stars of tomorrow like Say Lou Lou, Years & Years, Chloe Howl and Arthur Beatrice, there's so much that you can't afford to miss. Not only that, but there are so many brilliant new bands, that if you see even half of these you're definitely catching a glimpse of the next big thing.

Here are the 23 most awesome and must-see bands at Live At Leeds 2014.

Live At Leeds Festival takes place in various venues across Leeds from Friday 2 - Sunday 5 May. For more information visit Gigwise gig tickets

  • Albert Hammond Jr: Much more than just 'that bloke from The Strokes', Hammond's solo material is absolutely brilliant - with 'Rude Customer' and 'Saint Justice' from recent EP AHJ easily rivalling The Strokes at their finest. Go and pay your respects to a modern guitar hero. (VENUE: LEEDS UNI "THE REFECTORY" DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 23:00)

  • Say Lou Lou: Shimmering pop perfection, with a little Australian-Swedish aural sunshine sure to brighten up the darkest of Yorkshire days. (VENUE: BELGRAVE MUSIC HALL AND CANTEEN DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 21:00)

  • Courtney Barnett: Her Sea Of Split Peas double EP was one of the 2013's finest releases - plus she has an incredible way with words, a wicked sense of humour and she knows her way around a guitar. We can't wait to see what she does next. (VENUE: LEEDS MET "THE STAGE" DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 17:30)

  • Woman's Hour: Much more melodic than the topical Radio 4 chat show, Woman's Hour are a dark and hypnotic affair that will leave you utterly transfixed this summer. Catch them at Live At Leeds before bigger things beckon them on. (VENUE: BRUDENELL SOCIAL CLUB DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 18:00)

  • Years & Years: We dare you not to fall in love with the devastatingly catchy electronic soul of Years & Years. The band's recent single 'Real' is one of the best tracks we've heard in a while, and they have the potential to be MASSIVE. You know when you get to say 'I saw them before they were huge' - that will be you after Live At Leeds. (VENUE: BELGRAVE MUSIC HALL AND CANTEEN DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 18:00)

  • Pawws: Prepare to have your heartstrings pulled and dancing shoes dirty with the delightful Pawws. (VENUE: A NATION OF SHOPKEEPERS DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 21:00)

  • Clean Bandit: Chart-topping electro-meets-classical pop wonder from one of the UK's fastest-rising bands (VENUE: O2 ACADEMY LEEDS DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 21:30)

  • Wolf Alice: Fuzzy guitars, hazy angelic vocals and lo-fi pop brilliance form the perfect fun but angsty soundtrack for the new guitar generation. (VENUE: THE COCKPIT DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 21:00)

  • Royal Blood: Glorious noise from the UK's loudest new grunge duo. (VENUE: LEEDS MET "THE STAGE" DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 18:30)

  • iLiKETRAiNS: Local heroes and criminally underrated post-rock masters of fiercely intelligent and cinematic brilliance celebrating their 10th anniversary as band. This is not one to be missed. (VENUE: LEEDS TOWN HALL DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 21:00)

  • Catfish & The Bottlemen: Open, easy and refreshing, the sound of Catfish & The Bottlemen is an invigorating blend of carefree abandon and timeless pop sensibility. They'll be the new kings of indie by the end of the year, so catch them on a smaller atage at LAL while you can. (VENUE: THE FAVERSHAM DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 23:00)

  • Arthur Beatrice: Ah, the wonderful Arthur Beatrice. Their debut album Working Out is a charming blend of subtlety and warmth, and they're pretty good live too. (VENUE: THE HIFI CLUB DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 18:00)

  • Shy Nature: With the indie anthemics of The Maccabees, the jaunty joy of Vampire Weekend and the quick-fire rhythms of The Strokes, but lifted by a wide-eyed, sky-reaching cinematic approach to rock, here stands a band to whom guitar classics couldn't come any more naturally. Sound too good to be true? See them for yourselves at Live At Leeds (VENUE: THE WARDROBE DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 16:00)

  • Southern: Brother and sister Thom and Lucy Southern make one hell of a noise for a duo, letting their unmistakable fire in their bellies translate into volatile blues-tinged rock n' roll. The sounds of Tennessee never sounded so Irish. (VENUE: A NATION OF SHOPKEEPERS DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 17:00)

  • Dum Dum Girls: Lo-fi, high-brow, cool as hell - the queens of Bohemian shoe-gaze are back. (VENUE: BRUDENELL SOCIAL CLUB DATE: 4 MAY TIME: 19:30)

  • Chloe Howl: She may have missed out on being crowned the BBC's Sound of 2014, but standing tall as one of British pop's most credible and fresh new talents, the year could still belong to Ellie Goulding's touring buddy. (VENUE: O2 ACADEMY LEEDS DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 19:00)

  • Pulled Apart By Horses: Proper rock, Yorkshire style. (VENUE: BRUDENELL SOCIAL CLUB DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 23:00)

  • Drenge: Brutal. Awesome. Come get some. (VENUE: THE COCKPIT DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 22:00)

  • Mausi: Utterly blissful disco dream-pop - this is what summer sounds like. (VENUE: LEEDS UNI "STYLUS" DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 15:00)

  • Ella Eyre: The massive voice behind hits from Rudimental and Naughty Boy, not mention the source of so breathlessness from THAT BRIT Awards performance, what you have here is a future pop icon. (VENUE: O2 ACADEMY LEEDS DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 20:15)

  • The Neighbourhood: Dark guitar-pop in the vein of a more cinematic The 1975. Plus, no one understands the phrase 'Sweater Weather' quite like the good people of Yorkshire. (VENUE: THE FAVERSHAM DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 20:30)

  • Indiana: Her new single 'Solo Dancing' lit up the airwaves and breezed into the top 20 effortlessly. Could we be looking at the new queen of the dancefloor? Find out at Live At Leeds. (VENUE: A NATION OF SHOPKEEPERS DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 23:00)

  • Yuck: 1990s' grunge noise revivalists who DIY, and do it very bloody well (VENUE: LEEDS UNI "STYLUS" DATE: 3 MAY TIME: 21:15)
