With a monstrous chip on his shoulder from having his last concert cancelled, Caine Robinson, aka grime maestro and teen heart throb Kano, and his army of loyal if put out fans, are not in any mood for messing about. Which is good really, because the man of the moment has but one hour to whip the crowd into an urban frenzy before disappearing again.
With pressure time ticking away, the barely out of Pampers hottie, launches into ‘Routine Check’ with real gusto. He boosts around the stage, kneeling down to ‘his ladies’ the ghetto princesses- girls who look like they’ve got to speed home after the gig to finish their chemistry homework, and cries out to his boys and fans to join in him in an almighty garage get together.
With the masses bonded by their love of Kano, he storms through a rollicking good set that sees even non-grimesters getting their freak on by the end of the show. ‘Night Night’ sees the happy couples of the crowd, 15 year olds going two’s on a cheeky ciggy, apart from the rest, as Kano delves into his school boy- sweet love melody, “Maybe sometime we could hold hands in the park, in the sunshine,” causing much swooning in the ranks.
Before the swooning reaches fever point, Kano rips spits out an electrifying blast of 'Boys love Girls' and then leads into a thundering 'Typical Me', stopping at the climax of both songs and then starting again in a way that leaves his appreciative gig goers gagging for more. But with that old enemy of man, time fast pouring away, it’s time for the East London MC to bid adieu to the cap’s crowd and head off home. Leaving them with the message that, ‘If you don’t know KA then you don’t NO’. Indeed.
