In an indie mainstream dominated by art-rockers and electro-ponces it is about time that someone bought a bit of ferocity to proceedings, a little more meat on the bone shall we say, Kalev are here to do just that. Melded around a beastly, menacing riff and kicking the doors open with some firecracker synths ‘Cutting At Nothing’ twists and turns through the dark lands of the London quintets industrial heavy influences without losing sight of the current musical climate. If someone drew a straight line from Ian Curtis to Trent Reznor this would be the sonic equivalent. Live it’s deafening, on record it’s blisteringly good. Get your metal fingers ready kids of the indie dancefloor!
