Shying away from the large TV exposure of other Ska and Punk bands; Capdown have instead opted to build their significant fan base through extensive touring conducted in the past three years. In 2000 alone they played over 250 gigs in twelve countries and recent tours with Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake and Team Gravity buddies Hundred Reasons mean that amongst the gig going public Capdown have a formidable reputation for touring and the mosh pits that follow them.
The parents guarding their children, here to see tonight's headliners Bowling for Soup, seem to be less than impressed. The kids themselves however seem hooked at what is the real highlight of tonight's otherwise bland pop-punk bill.
No novelty fat guitarist, no "we love Liverpool - home of the Beatles" trash, instead we get Ska Wars. Capdown should market themselves as weight loss for the new generation. Who needs pills, diets, and milkshakes when you have Jake, an all-new Mr Motivator for the 21st Century complete with Saxophone? Why bother with press-ups when you can make the overfed McDonalds generation run around in a circles.
Ok so the music might lack some substance, you're not going to rush out to buy the latest album (well, maybe the baggier members of society might) but it is at least fun and fun is the name of the game with Capdown.
