‘Monday’s Arms’ is a pretty funky little tune.  Using the disco influences favoured by others like The Rapture, Harrisons add a rockier edge to the dance proceedings.  The full-length version of the track is the most satisfying – providing an 80s electro introduction that is oh-so-hot right now.  Playing on everyone’s hatred of Monday mornings, the steady energy of this song is strangely affecting, transforming any unwitting listener into a frenzy of foot-tapping and head-nodding.  B-side, ‘Loxley Bottoms’ offers a darker atmosphere, telling the story of the murder of a young girl in Sheffield.  The juxtaposition of the mundane, Monday morning feeling with the ghoulish tale of death makes the latter so much more moving.  Still a good song to dance to, but showing a conscience: bloody brilliant stuff.
