Having stepped off the live scene for a while to records their album, it’s an unfortunate rarity to see Dogs live, so for the heaving crowd at the Mean Fiddler tonight it’s a bloody treat. People are rammed right up against the stage barriers, standing on the stairs and hanging off the balcony just to get a look at the band as they walk on stage and straight into ‘This Stone Is A Bullet’, a fantastic opener that goes down a storm. Dogs fly through a set that shows off their matured skills brilliantly throwing in both new and old songs - from ‘Soldier On’ to ‘Charlie’ every one is fast and tight and surprisingly frontman Johnny picks up an acoustic guitar to play on ‘Chained To No-One’ - a song that gradually builds up into loud and proud number.

"I fucking love this next one" Johnny, cocky as ever, declares as the band start up one of their new songs ‘Dirty Little Shop’. This one has a heavier sound to their usual Mod tinted tunes giving their guitarist Rikki a chance to shine, and whilst the crowd seem to be taken by surprise by the song at first, they’re loving it by the end! Throwing in their classics ‘End Of An Era’ and ‘London Bridge’ and even coming back for an encore with ‘Tuned To A Different Station’ the roars and energy of the fans come to an amazing climax as the last notes screech out across the venue. Some may say the break they’ve had was too long, but it’s just proved that Dogs have really pulled their act together and sound fucking blinding.
