A teenage dream come true

Last night’s (3 February) show was a teenage dream come true. After much anticipation – twelve years to be exact - the Jonas Brothers’ Happiness Begins reunion tour could not have been a happier occasion.

The concert starts as the trio are lowered from the ceiling on a dangerously small platform as pyrotechnics go off behind them. After playing new one 'Rollercoaster' as their opening song, 'S.O.S' - the song that shot them to fame over a decade ago - blasts out...prompting far more high-pitched screams. This, if nothing else, quickly proves that as catchy as their new songs are, everyone here is hoping to hear the old ones.

So far this looks more like a Hollywood movie set than a boyband concert: the lights turn back on at the start of 'Cool' and the clamouring becomes almost too intense. Thousands of women are ecstatic to find their favourite teenage band on stage before them, though more recent followers sing all the words to hits from their Happiness Begins era too - 'Only Human' and 'What A Man Gotta Do' both ring out from the crowd.

'Cake By The Ocean' by middle JoBro Joe’s band DNCE is one of the unexpected highlights of the night: inflatable tube men appearout of nowhere, and confetti falls from the ceiling like it is a World Cup final. Truly, it's a memorable display to go with the song’s innuendo-ridden lyrics.

The most nostalgic section of the night comes towards the end of the show, when all three brothers run toward the mini-stage set up at the back of the arena. Joe, who is largely considered the charismatic brother (is my bias showing?), looks around with awe as his eyes find an utterly packed arena.

“We’re going to do something special for all you OG Jonas fans,” says the middle brother before the trio start playing a medley of their old songs including 'Paranoid', 'Play My Music' and 'Hold On'. Back on the main stage, they perform their famous cover of Busted’s 'Year 3000', and then the arena roars once again as they play 'Burnin’ Up' - another song that helped their rise to stardom - surrounded by fire and sparklers.

One of their most popular latest hits 'Sucker', concludes their second and last London show of the week as everyone dances and confetti falls. It has been a memorably night for old and new fans - both who were able to sing along to their favourites. The Jonas Brothers have certainly set the bar high for future boyband reunions... One Direction should probably start rehearsing soon.
