Any band with as much hype as Cajun Dance Party demands a listen, but sadly this single ‘Amylase’ is nowhere near as exciting as it should be. It all sounds too familiar like we’ve been here before, although at least being Bernard Butler (of Suede) produced means at least we have a half decent guitar solo. It’s not that that it’s a bad song- it rocks nicely, hooks you in, but breaks no new ground. The b-side – ‘Fill The Cups’, all puns aside, has not much to it. Cajun Dance Party are still a young band of teenagers and clearly wear their influences on their sleeve, but given time should form their own more intriguing style.
