Panic At The Disco - 'Nine In The Afternoon'

The second album from Panic At The Disco entitled ‘Pretty. Odd.’ took a full u-turn in July last year despite having been near completion earlier in the year. A sombre, down beat spin on initial tracks left band members contemplating a potential fatal increase in teen depression rates as a result and so a more positive spin was placed on tracks, which also thankfully resulted in a move away from the movie soundtrack vibe common to PATD songs.

'Nine In The Afternoon' offers the usual PATD mix of classic, melodic indie rock accompanied by a slice of visionary pop modernism. With a heavy handed piano sequence running throughout providing some serious rhythm, bass being provided is drowned out in an instant. Pockets of string and brass melodies inject some pizzazz to this mediocre track which is taken from an album with some far more vibrant tracks to offer.

Released 24/03/08 on Atlantic.
