As part of a new hour-long documentary about Nile Rodgers, Daft Punk have created a short tribute video for the Chic frontman, which you can watch below.
Nile Rodgers: From Disco to Daft Punk is a documentary about Rodgers’ career, from his work with Chic to producing songs for the likes of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Madonna and Eric Clapton. The documentary is also being released to coincide with the June release of It’s About Time, Chic’s first new LP in 23 years.
Although most of the documentary is in French, there is a short clip from Daft Punk, in which they play Carly Simon’s track ‘Why’ (which was co-produced by Rodgers), as they type the following message:
“DEAR NILE,
WE ARE SENDING YOU THIS TRANSMISSION TO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR AMAZING SONGS.
YOUR MUSIC CONTINUES TO INSPIRE THE WORLD…
