Diddy fell down a hole in the stage at the BET Awards last night - further proof, if it was needed, that 2015 has been a dangerous and accident-prone year for musicians.

Earlier this month, Dave Grohl fell off the stage during a Foo Fighters gig and broke his leg. Before that, The Edge lived up to his name by falling off the edge of U2's stage, just a few weeks after Florence Welch had jumped off stage at Coachella and broken her foot.

Last night, it was Diddy's turn. The rapper was performing at the Black Entertainment Television Awards, when he fell into a hole that had been used by Lil Kim to enter the stage.

Clearly he was able to see the funny side though, as he later posted footage of the incident to Instagram, along with the caption, "I was getting so loose I fell! LOL, but really though I busted my ass! #finnaGetLoose #AppleMusic ... Puff Daddy & The Family feat @pharrell ... IF YOU EVER FALL DOWN, get your ass up and FIGHT!!!!!!! But really though, I crack up every time I see this shit! It's like I fucking disappeared. HAAAAAA!!!! I was scared as fuck but I had to get up!" We're not sure what the subliminal advertising-style Apple Music hashtag was doing in there.

For reference, this is Lil Kim demonstrating the stage hole's proper usage.

Elsewhere in the awards, Kendrick Lamar performed 'Alright' on top of a police car, declaring, "This is for Compton, this is for Watts." Alicia Keys also joined The Weeknd for a surprise performance of 'Earned It'.

Smokey Robinson won the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Nicki Minaj won her sixth consecutive Female Hip Hop Award - a fact that won't have gone unnoticed by Azealia Banks, who last month called the awards "a running joke" for how often it awarded Nicki Minaj.
