Paloma Faith performed a cover of Sinead O’Connor and Prince’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ for two apparently unsuspecting fans ahead of this week’s BRITs. Watch it below for 24 hours only.
Faith "teamed up" with Mastercard for the performance, which took place in a secret bank vault, in which brother and sister Joe Meadows and Anna Williams believed they were picking up a recording of the cover. In fact, Faith was waiting in the vaults to perform for them live.
As you can see in the video, the family members then stood looking weepily into each other’s eyes as Faith serenaded them with the cover. It’s all a little bit corporate and saccharine for our taste, but the quality of Faith’s cover rescues it.
If you want to watch it, you’ll have to hurry - it’ll be online for just 24 hours from 11am this morning (24 February). We have no idea why.

The song was originally written and released by Prince in 1985, as part of his side-project The Family. It wasn’t made famous until Sinead O’Connor released her version in 1990.
Faith is nominated for Best British Female Solo Artist at tomorrow’s BRITs, alongside Ella Henderson, FKA Twigs, Jessie Ware and Lily Allen.
