If you lived through 2020, you might reasonably ask the question: what the fuck was that?

It's not been a normal one, that's for sure, and the time it will take to reckon with what's happened will stretch far into the future. Let's start by looking at how we spent the weirdest year in living memory.

We collared a bunch of our favourite bands and artists and asked them questions about how they experienced the year that all of us will remember forever.

Today, The Magic Gang answer our 2020 quiz.

How are you, really?

I’m doing well, really. I’d gotten a little obsessed with routine over lockdown and I now feel like I’m letting go of that a bit- being more spontaneous.

Did you watch Tiger King back in March?

I did. It felt like people went from loving that show to turning on it quite quickly. It was dark and depressing in parts but I can’t deny it was entertaining.

What else did you binge watch?

I really loved Succession. I was gutted when the third season of that got delayed because of Covid. I also started working my way through the original Twilight Zone series which I’ve loved for years.

What did you drink and eat too much of?

I’m drinking too much coffee on a daily basis now. I went from one or two to around four a day. I’m working to curb that.

Describe a joyful moment.

When the rules loosened, I went on a long drive during a sunny weekend. A real taste of freedom.

Did you take up a new hobby?

I started learning Spanish at the beginning. It was that moment when it felt like everyone was going to come out the other side with a new skill. So in the spirit of panic, that’s what I tried. I also bought myself an old mini DV camera- I’ve decided I’m going to learn to use that and make a film.

What's the best thing you read in quarantine?

David Foster Wallace- Oblivion, which is a collection of short stories. It took me a while to get into but became more fun the further it went on.

What's the best album you heard in quarantine?

Robert Palmer- Clues.

What did you miss the most?

Going out for breakfast with my girlfriend.

The deluxe version of Death of the Party is out now via Warner Records.
