More about: Sam Fender
New music is on the horizon, so let's reflect
Ever since stepping onto the music scene, North-East dreamboat Sam Fender has gone from strength to strength. Having toured consistently and built himself one of the most loyal fanbases in the UK, he’s created some of the most loved and emotive music of recent years.
Carving his own future by simply putting his pen to paper and being honest with his words and storytelling, Fender collates broad music for everyone from sad, angsty teens to happier souls - a little bit of something for everyone.

Destined for an even greater future and new music here this evening, we want to celebrate seven of his best tunes:
7. 'Hypersonic Missiles'
One of his most recognisable offerings, the lyrics to 'Hypersonic Missiles' are observations of someone who is angry at modern society at a global scale. The candid lyricism is easily one of the most gut-wrenching. Listing many evil wrongdoings world leaders have inflicted, from bombing innocent people and beautiful countries to hungry kids being left to starve; it’s a hard listen but something we must not ignore, no matter how ignorant we as humans can be at the best of times.
6. 'White Privilege'
Fender collects his thoughts in ‘White Privilege’ and wails about petition signing - something we did a lot last year. He’s frustrated and angry at how overly privileged those at the top act in their daily lives. We’re with you, Sam.
5. 'Poundshop Kardashians'
Striking a chord and being brutally honest, ‘Poundshop Kardashians’ highlights the implications surrounding social media while calling out celebrity culture and relationships between the consumer and influencer. Diving in at the deep end, Sam presents some of his most iconic lyrics to date, sparking conversations among us, whether that being photoshopped pictures of Kim Kardashian and how that plays a huge part in women’s mental health, to the idea of television shows like Love Island and the message they send out to the younger generations.
4. 'Spice'
This one is for the boys. ‘Spice’ is a snappy single that showcases a fast-paced narrative surrounding anxiety that young men experience: a very important topic to talk and think about. Laced with solid indie guitar licks, it’s simply perfect with an important message. What more do we need? Absolutely nothing.
3. 'Will We Talk?'
One word: iconic! Another one of his most popular tunes, ‘Will We Talk’ showcases some of the coolest, snappiest drum beats that have become samples for other artists: this track was in which everyone realised how talented Fender actually is. Surrounding themes of relationships and hardships, he makes it known he has his head screwed on - constantly supplying the goods and singing some sense. It’s almost as if he gives us hope in the world.
2. 'Play God'
Honing his sound, ‘Play God’ is a haunting, alluring contribution to his album Hypersonic Missiles. Another tune that teeters with anger at austerity, capitalism, and those above us in society who are corrupt, Sam takes no prisoners.
1. 'Dead Boys'
One of his most important songs, ‘Dead Boys’ doesn’t stray away from the truth - collecting his thoughts of young men who are struck with mental health issues and the feeling of isolation and loneliness, Sam shouts to the world that he hears them, he sees them, they’re not alone and speaking up is good. It takes the top spot as one of his greatest songs and one of his first to ever grace the planet.
