It's been a great year for vinyl as a format with sales rising year upon year and record shops across the country have seen their revenues climbing. Now the Art Vinyl Prize 'Best Artwork' prize nominees have been revealed and there are some great examples amongst those selected.
The list of nominees encompasses a broad spectrum from popular to obscure release in celebrating the album covers of the year. Damien Hirst is amongst the nominees for his work on the pop-art inspired cover for the Babyshambles album Sequel to the Prequel, Daft Punk join Babyshambles with the iconic cover for 'Get Lucky' with the band silhouetted against tthe setting sun.
The winners will be chosen by public vote with 50 nominees up for the award, with a gallery of the pieces open for viewing by the public at the Art Vinyl gallery in East London's Broadway Market. The announcement of the victor will take place on 3 January 2014.
