Allow us to introduce you to Calico, the Brighton math-rock band who are guaranteed to restore your love for the genre or ignite a new passion. Check out their new track below.
The original formation of the band stemmed from a mutual admiration for Star Wars and South Park quotes and while there is a distinct lack of sampling or satirical science-fiction in the music, there is an acute innovation that runs deep in their music in the same vein as these centrefolds of popular culture.
Calico's latest track, 'Fold A Winning Hand', is a driven and precise slab of hypnotic math-rock. The guitars following a waltz pattern with a timeless production while the drums simmer articulately in the back-space invoking jazzy undertones that sound amazing and are almost 100% less pretentious as that description.
