After ending 2015 supporting Rudimental on tour, 20-year-old Leo Stannard has released his most impressive cut yet. Check out the premiere below.
'Lost' opens with Stannard's impressive tap harmonic guitar, influenced by Newton Faulkner, and his soulful voice soon follows. The impressive, stripped back beginning builds into an anthemic chorus of soaring backing vocals, deep bass, and propulsive drums that help make sense of why he was on tour with Rudimental.
'Lost' continues to move between louder and more delicate parts, making for an intriguing dynamic hit. It was mixed by Grammy Award winning Anthony Kilhoffer (Kanye West, Rihanna, The Roots) who's given it the polish that will inevitably see this track getting some strong Radio 1 support.
The track is a personal one for Leo: "'Lost' came about after I confronted one of my closest friends about their lack of direction in life. It was a time when we’re all making decisions about university, work and what to do next - and this friend of mine had so much to offer but was far too easily influenced by others which was heartbreaking to see."
Leo Stannard will release his third EP via Black Butter Records - who put out Rudimental, Jessie Ware, and Clean Bandit's first releases - on 29 January: The Free Rein Ep is available to pre order here.
Stannard will play at London's Courtyard Theatre on 23 February. Get tickets and more information here.
