Taylor Swift's light-up bracelets from her 1989 tour have saved the lives of three of her teenage fans - after they were involved in a car crash on the way home from seeing her live.

The driver, Elizabeth Dazzio, feel asleep at the wheel whilst driving her sister Caroline and a friend home from a gig in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, last Friday. The car crashed and she was knocked unconscious.

Elizabeth, Caroline and her friend were trapped inside the vehicle. "You could smell the gas and smoke," Caroline Dazzio told her local news station WBRZ-TV. "I was just thinking we need to get out of this car."

There were three phones inside the car, but two were revealed to be dead and they couldn't find the other one. No cars were stopping near the exit where they'd crashed.

Instead the girls were able to wave the light-up bracelets, still activated after Swift's 1989 concert, in the air on order to call for help. They knew it had worked when a woman stopped, saying she'd seen the lights and knew there was trouble. "She could tell that there was someone in the car." Caroline said.

The women and a man with her were able to help the girls out of the vehicle before the emergency services arrived on the scene. Elizabeth Dazzio is due to be released from hospital soon.

Taylor Swift herself heard about the tragic accident and took to Twitter to say how relieved she was that her fans were safe.

Taylor Swift is set to headline at Barclaycard British Summertime, alongside Ellie Goulding, John Newman, Vance Joy (who is supporting her on the rest of the 1989 tour), Rae Morris, JP Cooper, Lauren Aquilina, Laura Doggett, Sheppard, Jamie Lawson and Iris Gold. The event takes place at Hyde Park on 27 June. For tickets and more information about Taylor Swift's gig at Barclaycard British Summer Time visit here.
