Zayn Malik has revealed that - aside from Liam Payne - he hasn't spoken to his former One Direction bandmates since leaving the band a year ago.
Malik quit his job as one fifth of the biggest boyband in the world last March - but in a statement, he insisted that he still had "four friends for life."
At the start of this year, though, he hinted that this might not be the case. "The truth of it is," he told Billboard, "you can think one thing about a situation and the total opposite can happen. I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven’t received calls from a lot of people. I've reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it’s stuff you overcome in time."
Now, in a cover interview for NME, Malik has said, "I'm still probably the closest to Liam. We talk on the phone. He congratulated me on my single, which was nice. I congratulated him on his Brit Award. It was a good chat. We haven't met up in a long time so we want to meet up."
He went on to reveal that he hasn't seen any of the band since he left, saying, "I tried to have contact but nobody's reached out. So... whatever."
Malik's debut solo album, Mind Of Mine, is set for release on Friday (25 February), See the tracklisting for Mind Of Mine below, and we apologise for any pain it may cause your eyes.
