Blur have released a comic book entitled 'Travel to Hong Kong with Blur' - made as a visual companion to their latest LP The Magic Whip.
The band recorded their latest album in Hong Kong, a location which is prevalent in the music. The book is illustrated by artist and co-founder of Penguin Lab KongKee who is similarly inspired by Hong Kong in his works, which Blur are fans of: "The collaboration started with an email from Blur’s manager, the band had read Pandaman, my previous work and the plots that involve Hong Kong fascinated them."
Although KongKee admits himself and the band had never met in person, he went on to describe how the album affected his work: "it’s magical how their music brought me many vivid visions - and I just let it slip out through my pens - the feeling from Blur’s music - the feeling of Hong Kong."
