Today in vile musician confessions: Ed Sheeran has made the frank admission that he once shat himself on stage by following through with a wet fart, or 'shart' if you will'.

The X chart-topper and Wembley Stadium headliner was appearing in Dublin when he took the take with Nova FM host Kent 'Smallzy' Smalls to play the 'Yes/No' game before a performance. 

When asked if he had ever passed wind on stage, Sheeran shocked Smalls by replying: "I actually misjudged a fart on stage once and it ended up being a shart. It was, like, midway through a performance and I was really lively. Then halfway through I was like, "All right I’m just going to stand for the rest of the performance, and hope it’s over soon and then go home and throw these trousers out!"'

Smalls tried to discourage Sheeran from revealing any more harrowing details when he said "you can say less if you want", before Sheeran continued 'I had flown from London to Tokyo to Sydney to England all in three days and it messed me up and I was very ill.'
