R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe has taken serious shots at Donald Trump for using his band's music at a rally for his presidential campaign.
The former Apprentice host is currently unning as a Republican candidate. At a rally in Washington DC on Wednesday (9 September), Trump used R.E.M's 'It's the End of World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)' much to the disapproval of Stipe.
Stipe and bassist Mike Mills took serious offence to their song being used to soundtrack a cause they very much disapprove of. Stipe took to Twitter on Mills' account to express his anger at the whole situation.
"Go fuck yourself, the lot of you - you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry men," Stipe said, adding, "Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign".
Mills himself caveated that, saying: "Personally, I think the Orange Clown will do anything for attention. I hate giving it to him."
The band later took to Facebook to release a statement, which read: "While we do not authorise or condone the use of our music at this political event, and do ask that these candidates cease and desist from doing so, let us remember that there are things of greater importance at stake here. The media and the American voter should focus on the bigger picture, and not allow grandstanding politicians to distract us from the pressing issues of the day and of the current Presidential campaign."

Trump recently spoke up about Kanye West's announcement for his presidential bid in 2020 saying: "He's actually a different kind of person than people think. He's a nice guy. I hope to run against him someday."
