Ed Sheeran accidentally offended Adele by making a comment about flip-phones, unaware that she'd been gently mocked over her 'Hello' video.
Adele launched her surprise comeback last year with the release of her new album's lead single, 'Hello'. The accompanying video, which was directed by Xavier Dolan, launched a thousand memes, thanks to her use of an extremely outdated flip phone.

Dolan eventually explained the creative decision behind Adele's flip phone in an interview with The Los Angeles Times: "I never like filming modern phones or cars. They're so implanted in our lives that when you see them in movies you're reminded you're in reality. If you see an iPhone or a Toyota in a movie, they're anti-narrative, they take you out of the story [...] It feels like I'm making a commercial."
It seems Ed Sheeran managed to bypass not only the memes, but the video itself, and put his fut in it while out for a meal with Adele. Speaking to The Sun, Sheeran said, "We went out for dinner and I hadn’t seen the 'Hello' video. I said, 'I'm getting a flip phone' and she said, 'Is that some sort of fuckingg joke?' I was like sat there being like, 'Is it?' Someone piped up and was like, 'He hasn’t seen the video'."
Sheeran recently quit social media, saying that he was tired of "seeing the world through a screen" - so his comments about getting a flip phone were probably made in earnest.
