Before the release of The Story Of Sonny Boy Slim, we sat down with the rapidly rising guitar wizard, Gary Clark Jr. to discuss his great new album and upcoming tour with Foo Fighters. Watch our interview below.

Clark Jr. produced the majority of this new LP himself - and the intense focus and direction can be heard throughout the rich and lush album. “I don’t like a lot of people around in the studio. To me, it’s like this kind of sacred bubble. To really get into a zone, I can’t have too many distractions.”

Seamlessly combining elements of old school soul, hip hop and hard rock riffs, the record flows effortlessly and is sure to please his rapidly growing swarm of fans.  Since being invited by Eric Clapton to perform at his Crossroads Festival, he’s collaborated with a swarm of legends, and performed with Beyonce and Ed Sheeran at this year’s Grammy awards.

He’s also set to join Foo Fighters on tour this autumn. When we describe to Gary Foo Fighters’ recent encounter with the Westboro Baptist Church, his eyes widen and his jaw visibly drops. “I have no idea what to expect [on the tour and I’m just mentally preparing myself for the unknown. They’re known to have a good time.”

He’ll be returning to London in November to play two headline shows at the Electric Ballroom between 15-16 November. Also, keep your eyes peeled for Gary's upcoming story about his epic handshake with Bill Murray.
