The Arcs, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys' side project, have released 'Lake Superior' which is about Steven Avery, the subject of the Netflix documentary Making A Murderer.

The 10 part documentary tells the story of Avery who was falsely imprisoned for 18 years in the United States for rape. Upon his release, he filed a law suit for $36 million dollars in compesation against Manitowoc County, its former sheriff, Thomas Kocourek, and its former district attorney, Denis Vogel.

However, his claim didn't succeed and Avery was convicted of murder of Teresa Halbach. The prisoner maintains his innocence and the documentary supports the view that he is thought to have been framed by the police to make them look better for putting him behind bars that whole time.

The Arcs were disturbed by what they saw in the documentary and wrote this woozy psychedelic cut in response. "It's like Billy Childish says, "We live in troubled times". Last week, we got a sneak peek at what goes on behind the curtains of our criminal justice system. A few sleepless nights later we gathered in the studio and wrote this song. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered in two days," state The Arcs.

Proceeds from the song will go to the non-profit organisation the Innocence Project who help absolve wrongly convicted people.
