Rage Against The Machine bassist, Tim Commerford, has publicly apologised for influencing Limp Bizkit.
Limp Bizkit have often cited Rage Against The Machine has one of their key influences, notably paying homage by covering 'Killing In The Name' at live shows. They love the track so much they've covered it more than 100 times. Fred Durst has even been quoted as saying that the song put their band in the right direction.
Following this, the RATM bassist is deeply apologetic. "I do apologize for Limp Bizkit," Commerford told Rolling Stone in a yet-unpublished interview. "I really do. I feel really bad that we inspired such bullshit."
The RATM man has been very vocal about Limp Bizkit and his distaste for them. This stems back to an infamous moment at the 2000 MTV VMAs when Rage's 'Sleep Now in the Fire' lost Best Rock Video to Limp Bizkit’s 'Break Stuff', Commerford took inspiration from the title and decided to tear down the set, climbing a 20-foot high backdrop and swaying it in attempt to topple it over.
