When most people have a birthday, their celebrations tend to comprise a trip to the pub, a few presents - and a cake if they're lucky. When the Queen turns 90 in May 2016, she'll be hosting 25,000 of her closest friends for a parade of musicians, dancers and choirs. Tickets for the event went on sale this morning, and sold out in just five hours. So 25,000 people will be taking a holiday from work from 12 - 15 May.
There's a host of international and British acts set to perform, though classical singer Katherine Jenkins is currently the closest thing to a mainstream name on the line-up - the rest of the bill includes the likes of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Fijian Army Dancers. Basically, the Queen is a massive hipster.
Tickets for the event went on sale to the general public this morning, and sold out in a matter of hours. Elizabeth II herself will only be attending the final day - 15 June. She is nearly 90-years-old, after all.
Members of the public who were unable to buy tickets will be able to enter a free ballot early next year, in order to win a place at a pre-performance party held on The Long Walk that leads up to Windsor Castle on the final night.
If you, like us, are far more interested in the other Queen - the one of 'We Will Rock You' fame - they're headlining Isle Of Wight Festival with their touring lead singer Adam Lambert in June. Buy Isle Of Wight tickets and get more information here.
