Macaulay Culkin from Home Alone - and the pizza themed Velvet Underground cover band, The Pizza Underground - has returned to the screen as Kevin, 25 years after the first film was released.
With Culkin being the child star in one of the most definitive Christmas films of all time - it's earned him a net worth of 15 million dollars - it’s great news that he’s revisiting the character. This time he’s returned as a bitter, sketched out older version of himself.
The short film sees Jack Dishell of Only Son/The Moldy Peaches being picked up by Kevin in a car as life’s just got too much for him. Kevin can’t drive so they switch places and Kevin spills out all his anxieties.
It seems that being left home alone has had long term effects: "Your whole family goes on vacation and they forget their eight year old son. You’re all by yourself in the house for a week. I had to fend off my house from two psychopath home invaders!” cries Kevin anxiously. Kevin is also called in to deal with another invader at the end of the drive.
You can watch the film below:
His acting of Kevin gone wayward has a lot of parallels with his private life where he’s struggled with drug addiction and been through divorce. It appears though that the child star has a sense of humour and has dealt with any issues - he’s also looking much healthier than he was a few years ago.
Elsewhere, his band activities appear to have slowed down since his parody band The Pizza Underground were booed off stage at Rock City in Nottingham as beer was thrown at him. It's widely known that Culkin is a fan of rock n’ roll and bohemian lifestyle having famously shared a flat in Paris with Pete Doherty so we could see more musical activities from him.
Meanwhile, he’s due to make a came appearance as himself in Zoolander 2 which could see a return to form for him in the acting world.
