Nearly a month after the death of Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister, it has been revealed that he died from prostate cancer.

Kilmister, generally known simply by his first name Lemmy, died on 28 December at the age of 70, just days after being diagnosed with "an aggressive form of cancer". The frontman had suffered from health problems for several years, and Motorhead cancelled a European tour while he dealt with complications arising from diabetes.

It's now been confirmed, via his death certificate, that this "aggressive form of cancer" was prostate cancer, and that Lemmy also died from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure.

Lemmy's funeral took place early this month, and was attended by the likes of Guns 'N Roses' Slash, Anthrax's Ian Scott, Judas Priest's Rob Halford and Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl. In a speech at the service, Grohl said that Kilmister was "not only that badass-looking, whisky-drinking rock star, but he had the biggest heart. He set such a great example because he was so kind to everyone."

Meanwhile, a petition for a new element in the periodic table to be named after Lemmy has been gaining support over the past few weeks.
