Nick Broomfield, the man behind the controversial documentary about Kurt Cobain’s death, is set to make a film about the life of Whitney Houston.
Broomfield, who has also investigated the likes of Sarah Palin, will explore “the forces that made and then destroyed the singer” with his new film, Whitney.
The singer passed away back in 2012 after drowning in a bathtub with traces of cocaine and champagne found in her system. The official cause of death was by accidental drowning, heart disease and cocaine use. In her will, she left everything to Bobbi Kristina, her only child, who sadly passed away last year.
The film will be shown on BBC 2.
Broomfield’s 1998 Kurt Cobain documentary, Kurt & Courtney, sparked major controversy after it examined the circumstances surrounding the Nirvana frontman’s death. Whilst the death was officially ruled a suicide, Broomfield investigated conspiracy theories that suggested he had been murdered.
A Whitney Houston hologram, which will be produced in a similar vein to that of Tupac, Selena, Michael Jackson and Eazy-E is expected to tour the world this year.
