A man convicted of sexually assaulting a woman has had his curfew lifted so that he can attend Glastonbury.
21-year-old Harry Webb was given a 12-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman who had fallen asleep at his home after a night out. His suspended sentence included a curfew from 8pm - 6am.
As Gal-Dem reports, a judge subsequently lifted the curfew so that Webb would be able to attend Glastonbury, which he had booked three months before the attack and labelled as a “family outing.”
The judge responsible for the decision, Peter Blair, says he will explain his decision only if the victim contacts him directly - meaning, once again, the onus is on the victim.
Speaking to The Sun, the unnamed victim said, “I don’t know what the judge was thinking of, but clearly it wasn’t me. […] What Harry Webb did has changed my life. But he’s just had a slap across the wrist and been allowed to live his life as normal.”
This news comes after publications such as Broadly and Noisey exposed the “rape problem” prevalent at festivals.
