Fans were stunned this weekend as Johnny Marr joined The Last Shadow Puppets on stage to cover The Smiths - however fellow Smith Mike Joyce was left even more surprised, but moreso by what one fan said to him...
The former The Smiths drummer was in attendance at The Last Shadow Puppets' gig at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester, when hometown hero Marr appeared on stage to cover 'Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me' alongside The Fall's 'Totally Wired'.
Then, one fan went up to Joyce, totally oblivious of who he was even talking to...
"So I'm at The Last Shadow Puppets gig tonight and Johnny Marr walks on and they play, 'Last Night I Dreamt...'," writes Joyce on Facebook. "The guy next to me says, "Seen the guy on the right with black hair? That's Johnny Marr, the guitarist from The Smiths and this is a Smiths song they're playing". I didn't say owt, I just couldn't.
