After a series of mishaps and controversies already this year, now fresh trouble faces ATP's event in Iceland - with bands taking online to pull out of the festival and slam organisers.
So far this year, Drive Like Jehu saw their curated event at ATP cancelled just a week before it was set to take place - sharing a photo of toilet roll and claiming it had 'crashed and burned' at the hands of organisers. This came after their weekend and other curated by comedian Stewart Lee faced problems securing venues. Various acts booked had complaints relating to payment and communication during Lee's event, which went ahead.
Now, more problems face ATP Iceland which is set to kick off next month.
Fabio Frizzi has pulled out, saying: “We’ve made every effort to make this show happen, but unfortunately the lack of communication and the failure to honour any of the agreements that we made with Barry Hogan (ATP), made it impossible for us to perform at this year’s ATP Iceland. It is a great shame since as we were very excited about these shows.”
Blanck Mass and múm have also cancelled their appearances, after múm wrote last month: "Unfortunately the terms of the agreement with the festival have not been honoured and the band has been left with no other option than to pull out of the line-up."
Speaking of recent cancellations, ATP Iceland wrote on Facebook:
In 2014, the ATP-curated Jabberwocky Festival was also cancelled at the last minute, causing much frustration and many complaints from fans that were awaiting refunds and bands had arranged to play.
ATP Iceland is currently scheduled for 1-3 July at Ásbrú -with Keflavik. Angel Olsen, Omar Souleyman, John Carpenter, and Les Savy Fav all among those set to perform. For tickets and more information, visit here
