Fabric has always been the go-to point for a long night out. It doesn’t matter much what music you’re into, because once you’re inside the spacious underground, it’s almost impossible not to have a good time.

Five months ago Fabric was investigated are two teenagers died from a drug overdose. After authorities closed the doors indefinitely, Fabric’s fans (there’s a lot of them) took to Fabric’s website to help support the iconic club and it’s plea to keep its doors open.

Last Friday (6 January) Fabric opened it’s doors to the public for the first time in nearly half a year. With club-goers in high spirits, Fabric wanted to show their gratitude by placing a banner in one of multiple rooms with the words: “You Saved Fabric”.

As reported in The Guardian, club-goers were ecstatic at Fabric’s opening night. But even the public recognise the strict checks on Fabric’s doors. Jenny, 23, said: "Ironically I think Fabric already had the most stringent checks in London, it was like coming through an airport. Last time I was here, when I came out they made me type my password into my phone to make sure it wasn’t stolen. So it was already extreme."

The reopening of Fabric is undoubtedly a historical moment, as London’s people continue to fight against multiple club closures across the city.

The campaign to Save Fabric was backed by people and DJs all over the world. £320,000 was raised in its favour, and eventually the Islington council agreed to let Fabric reopen, but under more strict regulations.

The grand re-opening saw attendees being patted down and searched more thoroughly. This is part of Islington’s restrictions, who have a zero-tolerance to drugs policy - an eerie reminder of the reasoning behind Fabric’s closure.

The line-up was kept secret until close to Friday, but the likes of Chase and Status, DJ Sir Spyro and DJ Chimpo were among the acts performing on Fabric’s reopening night. Th

is Saturday 14 January sees the likes of Eats Everything, Craig Richards, Terry Francis and more performing at Fabric.
