In commemoration of the album's 25th anniversary, the band unlock their vault
R.E.M's Automatic For The People holds pride of place in millions of people's collections. The extraordinary album brought us such classics such as 'Man On The Moon' and 'Everybody Hurts', and now we get to hear a demo version of a song called 'Mike's Pop Song' that was in contention for the album but never made the cut.

The track unsurprisingly sees the group firing on all cylinders, conjuring beauty with ever turn of phrase and chord progression. It was recorded in February 1992 at John Keane Studios in Athens, Georgia.
If you like the chilled out folk-y sound of the below - and hearing a band without too much polish - you'll be pleased to hear there are nineteen more never-before-heard demos from the album incoming.
They are on the third of a the four disc Deluxe Edition of the album released in commemoration of the albums' 25th anniversary set for release on 10 November.
The second disc is a full live set, Live At The 40 Watt Club 11/19/92. Performed in R.E.M.’s hometown of Athens, GA, it was the band’s only live show that year.
The first disco is the original album plus bonus track 'Photograph' remastered from the original analog tapes by the original producer Scott Liff and engineer Cliff Norell.
Lastly, there's a blu-ray disc with the hi resolution master and a collection of music videos. It reads like must buy for any serious fan of R.E.M whose only problem with Automatic For The People was that there wasn't more of it.
