More about: The Killers
Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has recalled the moment he first met Smiths legend Morrissey – and, moreover, that he ‘made an ass of himself.’
"I was his bus boy [waiter] when I was 18 at Spago in Vegas — I served him a mushroom pizza and Earl Grey tea, and I totally made an ass of myself.’ recalls the Las Vegas-born frontman, who for reasons best known to his teenage self then blurted out: ‘“Mushrooms are really cool.”’

"I grew up just idolizing him," an embarrassed Flowers told Yahoo Music, although it seems that he’s since got to know his Mancunian hero a little better. "I hung out with Morrissey at this hotel,” Flowers continues, referring to a much later encounter post Killers success. "I came in one night at around 11 and everything was kind of shut down, but there was this one little light in the restaurant. I instantly got excited, obviously, and I ended up getting the courage to introduce myself and stay for a few hours, out there with the Moz. It was an incredible experience."
"I don’t know that I redeemed myself completely with this experience with him, but I tried."
The Killers will release new record ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ tomorrow (September 22). It will be their sixth studio album, and the follow up to 2012’s ‘Battle Born’.
Morrissey will release new LP ‘Low in High School’ on November 17. He unveiled the album’s lead single ‘Spent The Day In Bed’ earlier this week, and even joined Twitter, although to date has only tweeted three times.
