No sooner have The Killers announced their new, stripped-down line-up of Brandon Flowers and Ronnie Vanucci and some other blokes that they’ve been touring with following the cessation of live duties by guitarist Dave Keuning and bassist Mark Stoermer, the Las Vegas band have announced an “intimate” gig at London’s Brixton Academy on September 12.

The gig comes 10 days before the release of The Killers’ fifth album, Wonderful Wonderful, and will mark the debut of the new-look band that will feature touring members Ted Sabley and Jake Blanton in place of Stoermer and Keuning respectively.

Writing on Twitter, the band said of the line-up shift: "Despite conjecture, The Killers are the same four weirdos we've always been. And worry not, we will not be performing as a two-piece.”

"As our fans have seen, the live line-up has grown over the years. Both Ted and Jake have been in the mix for a very long time (since Sam’s Town and Battle Born). Hell, we even have 3 background singers now!” they said.

“[Dave] will be taking a break from touring to spend time with his family. We respect his decision, just as we respected Mark’s decision to go back to college.

“More importantly, Wonderful Wonderful will be released on September 22, and we can’t wait for you to hear it – on record and at the shows. We will not disappoint.”

The news of Dave Keuning’s decision to stop touring in order to spend more time with his family comes after bassist Mark Stoermer decided to stop touring in order to concentrate on his college studies.

Tickets for the gig on sale at 9am on Friday, September 1.
